Introduction to Utilities
The purpose of this document is to provide the user with an overview and navigational flow of IP address restriction functionality and fields involved and the description of the parameter application used to enable special COB job frequency and store the related COB details like next run date, etc.
The Utilities module covers the following functionalities:
Special Batch Jobs Frequency
This functionality enables local batch jobs to run on special frequencies like bi-weekly, bi-monthly, quarterly, semi-annually or non-standard frequencies like once every 3 days or once every 4 months etc. In addition to standard frequencies like daily, monthly or yearly.
Temenos Transact has standard COB job frequencies which are available in the core product. The Frequency field in the BATCH application defines the cycle frequency of when the job is next run.
The following standard frequencies are supported:
- D: Every working day.
- Dnn: Every nn working day.
- W: Weekly every Friday.
- M: Last working day of every month.
- Mnn: Every nn or previous working day of each month.
- A: Ad hoc.
- Y: Last working day of the year.
- Ynn: Last working day of the nn'th month.
- Jxxx: Always run with job name xxx.
Banks may have a requirement for special job frequencies which are not supported by Temenos Transact. This functionality will allow users to input special frequency of jobs.
The special frequency jobs should be defined as ad-hoc type jobs in the BATCH application. A parameter application captures special frequency requirements for these specific COB jobs. Upon authorization of the record, the system updates the Next Run Date field in the BATCH application for the job that is defined on the parameter. When the COB service runs, based on the date in Next Run Date field, the special job will automatically run. A COB routine will cycle the dates in the Next Run Date field and the local application.
IP Address Restriction
This functionality allows users to specify the IP address range for specific set of users, branch or department and restrict them from using any other IP.
Temenos Transactdoes not support restriction of user log-on based on IP address of client machine. Banks may have a requirement to restrict users based on the IP address of the client machine. This restriction will depend on department and branch codes to be specified in the USER profiles. This functionality will allow the bank to exercise control on user log-on based on IP address.
A system parameter application holds the various ranges of the IP address for a branch or department where a particular user will be able to logon from to Temenos Transact. The key of this application will be the branch codes of the bank (will match with the COMPANY records). Another application is used to categorise the various types of users and whether validation is required or not. These values are linked to the user profiles through a local field in the USER application. A sign on routine will verify whether the IP address is in the allowable range or throw an error.
